There is a AutoZone off Otay Mesa Road, and a guy was parked there when I pulled up. He had called me after a rough experience with a locksmith he found through a low-bid ad.
He told me the story while I was still getting my gear out. He had searched for a locksmith, clicked the first result, and got a phone quote that sounded fine. If a tech shows up and cannot give you a license number on the spot, that is your answer.
