2012 Toyota Venza Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
There is a parking lot off Seacoast Drive in Imperial Beach where the soccer fields back up against the street. I was there on a Saturday morning when a woman came over and asked if I was the key guy she found online.
She had a 2012 Venza. One working key, no spare, and the fob was getting flaky. She wanted a backup before the original failed completely. Smart call. Most people wait until they are locked out.
I pulled the vehicle info, verified ownership, decoded the blade, and cut the replacement. Then the programming side: connected to the OBD port, accessed the immobilizer system, read the security data, calculated through the seed-and-key exchange, and registered the new remote head key alongside the original. The system confirmed both keys enrolled.
Then I did the part she was watching: walked the lot testing lock, unlock, the trunk button, and the fourth button, then ran three consecutive starts from different angles to confirm the remote signal and the immobilizer both recognized the new key every time. Handed it over only after all of that cleared.
She said she figured I would just give her the key and leave. That testing loop is not extra. It is how I know the job is actually done and not just done on paper.
She saved a good chunk compared to what the dealer quoted for the same work, and she never had to leave the neighborhood.
