2007 Volkswagen Jetta Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Sunday morning at the Brown Field Area flea market in Otay Mesa. A vintage reseller had pulled in early to set up her booth and walked back to her Jetta a couple hours later to grab more stock from the trunk. The flip fob did nothing. No lock, no unlock, no response at all. She tried cycling the key. Same result.
The VW dealer was closed. Sunday. She had a booth full of inventory, a car she couldn't open with the fob, and no good options until I picked up.
I got there in about 40 minutes. She'd already swapped the CR2032 herself, which was the right instinct, but the remote still wasn't talking to the car. The battery had been dead long enough that the remote pairing had dropped. The transponder side was intact, so the car would crank, but the remote functions were gone and she needed the trunk to keep working her booth.
I tested the fob, confirmed the transponder was reading correctly through the OBD port, and re-paired the remote to the car. Tested lock and unlock from across the lot, confirmed the trunk release, and walked through all four buttons before I packed up. The whole thing took less time than it would have taken her to drive to a dealer that wasn't even open.
She was back at her booth inside the hour. Dealer route would have meant Monday at the earliest, a parts order, and days of waiting. She didn't have days.
