2016 Volkswagen Jetta Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
She was parked near the RB Town Center, the kind of low-key office complex off Bernardo Center Drive where everyone is in back-to-back calls and nobody has time to spend a day at the dealership. She was a small business accountant, still had her one working key, and wanted a spare cut and programmed before that last key disappeared on her.
She stood next to me the whole time. Asked questions about each step, which I like. It keeps me honest and it keeps the customer calm.
I confirmed the key type from her VIN before I arrived, pulled the right blank, and had the CR2032 already seated. When I got there I decoded her door lock, cut the blade on my machine, and connected my programmer to the OBD port. Security access on these requires pulling the vehicle's stored authorization code before the immobilizer will accept a new key. I walked her through what the screen was doing while it worked. Once I had the code, key registration took a couple of minutes.
Tested every button. Started the car three times. Walked to the far end of the parking row to check remote range.
Thirty-five minutes total. She said the dealer wanted her to leave the car for two days and come back. She had a noon client call. That was never going to work.
