When a 2002 Acura TL key is done wrong, it doesn't just "kind of work." It fails. The engine might crank but not start. The remote might lock but not unlock. Or the key programs initially but the immobilizer rejects it after a drive cycle and you're stranded again.

Her fob also had a weak battery making the intermittent detection worse, so I swapped that too.
The replacement I made has been working for months and cost her 151. Dealer would have charged 338. The difference between a key that works and a key that works for a week is the chip generation inside it.
