2006 Acura TL Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Got a text from a guy parked near Ventura County Medical Center. His 2006 Acura TL had one key left and the plastic bow was cracked almost in half, with the transponder chip barely hanging on inside the housing. He had been babying it for weeks, holding the halves together when he turned the ignition. That morning it finally split and the car cranked but wouldn't start. Green key light blinking on the dash, which is the immobilizer doing its job.
He was sitting on a bench next to the car, holding both pieces of the key like evidence.
I pulled up, grabbed his broken key, and confirmed the blade was an HD108 cut. The transponder was an ID 13 Philips Crypto 46 chip, which is standard for the third-gen TL. I used my ACDP on the Honda immobilizer adapter to read the ECU, backed up the data, then cloned the transponder value onto a fresh chip in a new HD108-PT shell. Cut the blade to match his original on my Condor XC-Mini.
One turn of the ignition. Engine caught immediately, no blinking green light.
He looked at the old broken key pieces in his hand, then at the new one in the ignition, and just shook his head. The whole job happened in that parking lot. No tow, no waiting room, no three-day dealer appointment. He drove off with two working keys this time.
