Over near Surfers Point in Ventura, a guy flagged me down in a corporate office lot on a Tuesday around 11am. IT director, back-to-back meetings all day, and his only key for a 2004 Acura TL had gone through the washing machine the night before.

The key was physically intact but the transponder chip inside was cooked. He tried it that morning and the green key light on the dash just blinked and the engine cranked but would not fire. Classic immobilizer rejection.

He could not leave work. Could not get it towed during business hours. Could not wait for a dealer appointment that was four days out anyway.

I parked next to his TL, plugged my Autel IM608 into the OBD-II port under the dash, pulled up the Honda V3 IMMO platform, and read the existing key data. One registered key, dead. I cut a fresh HD108-PT blank to match his door lock, seated the new PCF7936 chip, and ran the add-key procedure through the immobilizer module. Whole thing took about twenty minutes, including the cut.

Turned the key, green light stayed solid, engine fired on the first crank.

He walked out between meetings, saw a working key sitting on his center console, and that was it. His car never left the parking spot and his afternoon stayed intact. The dealer would have needed a tow plus a half-day visit.
