1997 Acura TL MECHANICAL-KEY Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Got a call from a kindergarten teacher stuck at her school near Fairview Town Center in Goleta. She had a 1997 Acura TL, the 2.5L five-cylinder model, and her only key had snapped off in the ignition barrel that morning. Half the blade was still jammed in the cylinder.

The UA2 TL uses standard Honda wafer cylinders, so I pulled the broken piece without having to disassemble the column. Then I decoded the cylinder to get the original key cuts. The 1997 TL has no transponder and no immobilizer chip to worry about, so once I had the code, I cut a fresh X214 blank on the HPC right there in the parking lot.
Cut, tested in the ignition, tested in the driver door, tested in the trunk. All clean turns with no binding.
She was back in her classroom before the kids lined up. Kept the broken piece as proof of what happened. The whole thing took maybe 35 minutes from the time I pulled up. No tow truck, no lost school day, no waiting until next Tuesday.
