Got a call from a woman near Ellwood Butterfly Grove in Goleta on a Tuesday. Her 1999 Acura TL wouldn't start. Engine cranked strong, fuel pump primed, but it just kept turning over. The green immobilizer key light on the instrument cluster was blinking, which told me everything before I even got there.

Cut a new BHD106-PT blank on my Triax machine to match her existing key, then connected my programmer to register the T5 transponder chip through the OBD port. The 1999 TL runs Honda's first-generation immobilizer system, so the procedure is a direct code read and chip write. No timed waits, no multi-key dance.
Turned the new key, green light went solid, engine caught on the first crank. She stood there for a second like she was waiting for it to stall out.
She had already called the Acura dealer. They told her to tow it in and the earliest appointment was late the following week. She got her car back the same afternoon for a fraction of what they wanted.
