Got a call around 11pm from a guy in the Lynn Ranch neighborhood of Thousand Oaks. Night shift warehouse worker, parked at his apartment complex, and his only smart key for a 2011 Acura TL had completely stopped communicating with the car. Push-to-start wouldn't wake up. The 2011 TL uses Honda's rolling-code HITAG2 protocol on the 46 (G-chip) transponder inside the fob. The AKL process clears every previously registered key from the immobilizer module and writes new ones fresh. His replacement fob, part number 72147-TK4-A71, paired up clean. Cut the emergency blade, tested all four buttons, verified proximity detection at every door handle and the trunk, and confirmed push-button start from both front seats.
He stood there watching the engine turn over and just kind of nodded, like he was still processing that it happened in a parking lot at 11pm instead of at a dealer counter two days later.
Whole thing took about 35 minutes. He saved a good chunk over the dealer route, and he still made his shift.
