Do you need to tow your 2011 Acura TL to the dealer? Probably not. For most Acura models from the mid-2000s through the early 2020s, I handle all-keys-lost right at the car.
A night shift warehouse worker at his apartment complex in Thousand Oaks had his only key die at home around 11pm. His TL was parked in the lot with a push-to-start system and no fob that the car would recognize. He assumed a tow was inevitable and had already started looking up tow costs and dealer hours. I told him to stay home and that I'd come to him.
I connected my Smart Pro to the OBD port and ran the Acura smart key AKL procedure, which clears the old key data and learns new fobs to the car's immobilizer module. His smart key, FCC ID M3N5WY8145, was a 4-button proximity fob with an emergency blade inside. I programmed it in his apartment parking lot at 11pm. He seemed pretty surprised the whole thing could happen right there.
His total was about 306. The dealer would have been 563 plus the tow. There are a small number of very new Acura models where my tools don't support AKL yet and those do have to go to the dealer. But for the vast majority of Acuras on the road, 2005 through about 2021, I do all-keys-lost on-site every week. If your model is one of the rare exceptions, I'll tell you straight up instead of wasting your time.
