Worst case on a 2013 Audi A6 is when a previous tech attempted all-keys-lost on a BCM2 smart key car, something went wrong during the encrypted module read, and the BCM2 is now in a locked or partially corrupted state. This happens when the tech uses the wrong procedure, loses power mid-read, or does not have the correct software version for that specific BCM2 variant. The car will not accept any key until the module is recovered.
A European auto specialist shop in Oxnard near Lemon Grove Plaza had exactly this situation. Another locksmith had tried to do AKL on a customer's A6, the BCM2 read failed mid-process, and the module locked up. The shop's own tech could not get the immobilizer to respond through OBD. The customer was waiting.
I brought my ACDP for the bench recovery. The ACDP reads the encrypted BCM2 EEPROM data directly from the module chip, uploads it to a calculation server, and returns a file that allows me to generate new keys and re-initialize the immobilizer. I pulled the BCM2, read the chip on my bench setup, got the calc file back, generated a fresh dealer key, reinstalled the module, and performed OBD key learning. His smart key, FCC ID IYZFBSB802, was a 4-button proximity fob.
Total job time was about two hours, longer than a standard job. His bill was 95. The alternative was shipping the BCM2 to a remote service or towing to the dealer for 200 or more. The car left the shop running that same afternoon.
