Got a Saturday night call from a guy near Ormond Beach in Oxnard. He had a 1998 Audi A6 sitting at a resort lot, zero keys. His flip key with the 4D0837231P housing had been in his jacket pocket, jacket got left in a locked conference room, and the hotel staff couldn't get the room open until Monday. I drove out to the resort. The C5-platform A6 uses the Immo2 system with an ID48 Megamos crypto transponder, which means the security data lives in the instrument cluster EEPROM. I pulled the cluster connector, read the relevant data off the module, and ran it through my calculation tool to extract the transponder secret key and PIN.
Cut a new blade on the HU66 profile, programmed a fresh ID48 chip to match the Immo2 login, and then went through OBD adaptation on the cluster to register the new key. After that I synced the remote functions on the MYT8Z0837231 fob so all four buttons were live.
He sat on a bench watching the whole thing. When the engine turned over he just nodded slowly, like he was confirming something to himself. Didn't say much. Drove off about 40 minutes after I pulled up, for a fraction of what a dealer would have charged after a two-day wait.
