1999 Audi A6 Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
It was around 10pm on a weeknight in Blackstock, Oxnard. An accountant called me from a dark office park. Tax season. He had been there since seven in the morning and his only A6 key was gone. Checked his desk twice, the break room, under his car. Nothing.
He did not have his registration on him. Did not know what a VIN was. Was about to give up, order an Uber, and deal with it tomorrow, which for him meant calling the dealer in the morning and waiting however long they needed.
I kept him on the phone. Told him to walk to the driver's side of the windshield and shine his phone flashlight at the base of the glass, low corner. He found the VIN. Then I had him pull up his insurance app, which had the registration. Took about four minutes total.
That VIN told me what I needed to prep before I even pulled out of my driveway. The 1999 A6 takes a four-button remote flip key, and once I knew the VIN I had the right blank and battery ready to go. When I got to the lot, I accessed the security data and generated and registered a fresh key on site, right under the parking lot lights.
He drove home that night. The dealer would have been closed, required a tow in the morning, and taken days. Sending me the VIN before I arrive is the move. It tells me the key type, what equipment to bring, and cuts the job time down. Text it first, it makes everything faster.
