2007 Audi A6 Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Saturday afternoon in the Hidden Valley neighborhood in Santa Barbara, a guy flagged me down at a tennis club parking lot. His 2007 A6 had one working key left and the flip blade on it was loose, barely clicking into the open position anymore. He had been nursing it for months.
He told me the dealer quoted him a long wait for a replacement, something about ordering the key shell from Germany and booking a programming appointment on a separate day. Two trips, two waits. He just wanted to play tennis without worrying his last key would snap.
I pulled the cluster data with my VVDI Prog to read the immobilizer login, then ran key registration through the VVDI2 on the OBD port. The C6 uses the older cluster-based immo system with a Megamos 48 chip, so the process is reading the PIN from the instrument cluster's MCU, then writing the new transponder into an open key slot. His car had two slots used and six open.
Cut the HU66 blade on site, assembled the new NBG009272T housing with a fresh CR2032, and started testing. Lock, unlock, trunk, panic, all four buttons from 30 feet out. Then three cold starts back to back with no hesitation or immobilizer warning on the cluster.
He stood there watching the third start like he was waiting for a catch. There was no catch. He grabbed his racket bag and headed to the courts.
The whole thing took about 35 minutes in the parking lot. One trip, done, for a fraction of what the dealer wanted.
