She watched the whole thing from her front step. I think she expected me to tell her we needed to tow it somewhere or wait on a part. When I said I could cut the replacement right there, she just kind of looked at me for a second.
I ran the cut on my machine, tested the key in the door, tested it in the ignition. Smooth in both. Clean extraction, clean cut, done on-site.
The dealer would have needed the car towed in, possibly ordered a blank, and scheduled a service appointment. She got her key back in under an hour, parked in her own driveway.
