A catering company owner called me at 6 in the morning from a commercial kitchen near Centerpoint Mall in Oxnard. She had a wedding reception to prep for and her 2014 A6 would not start. The smart fob was dead, and the emergency blade would not turn the door lock because the cylinder was gummed up with old grease and road dust. Her loaded delivery situation was going nowhere.

Once in, I connected through OBD to pull faults. The instrument cluster was throwing a "no key detected" message and the comfort access module had flagged a communication timeout.
Opened her fob on the hood. The CR2032 was completely flat. Swapped it, cleared the fault codes, and the comfort access module picked up the fob signal again on the first try. Lock, unlock, trunk, panic, all four buttons responded. Push-button start fired right up.
Total hands-on time was about 25 minutes. She was loaded and heading to the venue before 7. She did not need a new key, just a battery and a reset, done on site for a fraction of what a dealer visit and tow would have run her.
