2009 Audi A6 Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from a guy near Stearns Wharf in Santa Barbara on a Saturday afternoon. Mountain biker, had been out on the trails, came back to the parking lot and his only key for his 2009 A6 was gone. Checked the pack, the jersey, the ground around the car. Nothing. He figured his day was about to end with a tow and a long wait at the dealer.
When I pulled up, the car was sitting there locked, no spare, no working fob, no way in. I started at the door lock. I used a pick and decode tool that reads the wafer positions inside the cylinder and gives me the exact cut pattern for a new blade without ever having the original key. Once I had that mechanical cut, I moved to the programming side.
The all-keys-lost process on this generation means reading the immobilizer data through the OBD port, then running a full sequence that clears the old key memory and registers the new fob as the primary key. The flip key blade and the remote both have to work before I consider the job done, so I tested the blade in the door, started the car, and walked every button on the fob.
He watched the whole thing from about ten feet away, still in his riding kit. When the car started he just nodded like he had been waiting for that moment for the past two hours.
The dealer option would have required a tow first, then however long it takes to get an appointment, then the key order. He got it handled in the lot, same afternoon, for a fraction of what that route would have cost.
