2012 Audi A6 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A shop in the South Winds area of Oxnard called me mid-morning. Import mechanic, good shop, the kind that actually knows Audis. A 2012 A6 was on the lift with the wheels pulled, and the customer's only key had fallen off the pegboard and gone straight into a floor drain. Two hours until pickup.
I got there while they were still trying to fish it out with a magnet.
The 2012 sits in a window where the OBD PIN read still works cleanly on these cars. I ran my tool through the diagnostic port, pulled the PIN, generated a replacement transponder, and cut the blade to match the vehicle. The four-button fob was programmed and enrolled. I walked every function: lock, unlock, proximity at both front doors, and the remaining buttons. Then I had one of the techs start the car and shut it down twice to confirm the immobilizer was stable.
The whole thing was done in under 35 minutes. The shop had the wheels back on before the customer showed. Car was ready, customer never knew anything had happened.
The dealer was mentioned exactly once, when the shop owner said he'd already warned the customer it would take days at the dealership. That ended that conversation.
