A mountain biker up in the Upper State Street corridor area of Santa Barbara lost his only key somewhere on a trail. Checked his jersey, his pack, walked the parking area twice. Nothing. His 2003 A6 was just sitting there with no way to open it or start it. He figured a tow to the dealer was his only option.
I got to the lot and started with the HU66 Lishi tool. That picks and decodes the Audi door lock by reading each wafer position inside the cylinder. Gives me exact bitting for a new blade without needing the original. Once I had the door open and the mechanical cut done, I moved to the immobilizer side.
On C5 A6s, the immobilizer data lives in the instrument cluster. I pulled the SKC pin through the diagnostic port, ran the all-keys-lost procedure, and registered the new ID48 transponder as primary. Any old keys tied to that cluster got wiped out. His remote flip key, part number 4D0837231P, was cut, programmed, and the four buttons were tested on the spot.
He turned the key and the 2.7T fired up in the same dirt lot where he thought he was stranded. The whole job ran about an hour. The dealer had quoted him way more than that plus a tow to even get the car there. He rode home under his own power instead.
