2002 Audi A6 Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Mission Canyon sits up in the hills above Santa Barbara, winding roads, morning fog, the kind of neighborhood where you notice if someone is standing in a parking lot looking at a broken key in their hand.
That was her situation. She taught a spin class earlier, came back out, and the flip blade on her 2002 Audi A6 snapped at the hinge pivot. The shell was in one hand. The blade was stuck in the door lock cylinder. No spare. One key total, and it was in two pieces.
I got there before she had time to start calling dealers.
First thing I did was extract the blade from the lock with my slim tools, slow and clean, no damage to the cylinder. Then I opened the cracked flip housing. The circuit board inside was intact -- no corrosion, contacts still good. That board is the part that actually matters. It already had the car's immobilizer data written to it from whenever the key was originally programmed years ago.
I transferred the board into a new flip shell, fitted a freshly cut replacement blade matched to her lock, snapped everything together, and tested it at the door and the ignition. Turned right over. Remote functions worked on all four buttons.
Then I cut a second key from scratch and registered it while I was already there, so she left with a spare for the first time since she bought the car used.
The whole job was under an hour. She mentioned the dealer had quoted her a significant wait time for parts to be ordered. We were done before her next class.
