2023 Genesis Gv60 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from a woman in Marina West, Oxnard, on a Tuesday morning. She had a 2023 Genesis GV60 and a cracked fob housing. The seam along the side had split, probably from being dropped, and the buttons were soft and inconsistent because the housing was no longer holding the internals tight against the button pads. She had taken it to the Genesis dealer first.
They told her the only path forward was a completely new fob, cut and programmed from scratch. She walked out without doing it.
When she called me, the first thing I asked was whether the wireless range and button response had changed or if it was purely a feel issue. She said range was fine, locks and start were responding, just the physical housing was falling apart. That told me what I needed to know before I even drove over.
I met her at her garage. I transferred the circuit board and battery contact assembly out of the cracked housing into a replacement shell, reseated everything properly, and tested each of the eight buttons for click feel and wireless response. Then I decoded the emergency blade from her existing key and cut a fresh one so she would have a clean spare and a rebuilt primary.
The dealer had quoted her a full replacement. What she actually needed was a housing swap and a spare blade. The electronics inside her original fob were working perfectly the whole time.
She ended up leaving that job with two working keys instead of one, for a fraction of what the dealer had quoted her for a single replacement.

“After calling 2 other places EZ Car Keyz answered the call. The tech Timothy that showed up was friendly, informative, told me the issue I was having and had my truck back up and running in 5 minutes. He was even able to come to me on base with me sponsoring him. This is the go to key service for Oxnard.”
