Push-to-start all-keys-lost is the job that worries Hyundai owners the most. No ignition slot, no key barrel to turn. The car needs to wirelessly detect a registered fob before it will start. When that fob is gone, the car feels completely dead, but it isn't.
A camper at a desert campsite outside Carpinteria had a 1997 Hyundai Accent with push-to-start and zero keys. He was 40 minutes from town on a dirt road with his family and no way to move the car.
I drove to the campsite with my full setup. Push-to-start AKL on Hyundai means accessing the smart module and clearing old key data before new fobs can register. On some models the module needs to be read on the bench. I used my ACDP to back up the smart module data, then ran the AKL sequence through OBD. His flip key, FCC ID , was a -button key. The system accepted the new key on the first clean registration after the reset.
His Hyundai started at a desert campsite with no dealer anywhere close. Total was around 95. The dealer would have been 200 plus a long-distance tow from a dirt road. Smart key AKL is tool-dependent, not dealer-dependent. He was pretty amazed it could all happen right there.
