He works a long shift and parks at the lot near College Estates, the one off Gonzales Road in Oxnard, all day. When he came back out that Monday evening, the Accent just sat there. Pressed the fob, nothing. Held it against the start button like the manual says, still nothing. Dead CR2032, and the fob was too far gone to trigger even the backup hold-to-start method. I connected my diagnostic tool through the OBD port, cleared the fault, and walked every function: both door handles, the lock and unlock buttons, and the remaining fob buttons. Everything came back clean.
I handed him a spare CR2032 for the glovebox and told him to swap it every couple of years without waiting for symptoms.
He drove home that same night. The car never left the space he pulled into that morning, and he paid a fraction of what the dealer would have charged before you even added three days of waiting and a tow bill.
