Got a call from a guy over in the Lang Ranch neighborhood in Thousand Oaks. His 2005 Accent had one key left and the plastic had split right along the seam near the keyring hole. The blade was loose in the shell, flopping around, and he was nervous about it snapping off inside the ignition cylinder.

I met him in his driveway that evening. Pulled the old blade out of the cracked housing, checked the cuts, and matched it against a fresh HYN12 blank on my Triton machine in the van. Then I seated a new Philips ID46 chip into the remote head shell and connected through the OBD-II port to register the transponder with his immobilizer ECU.
The part that told me everything was working: engine turned over on the first try, doors responded to the remote buttons, and the old cracked key still worked too. He wanted a backup this time. Smart.
He stood there holding both keys like he had just gotten away with something. The whole thing took about 25 minutes. No tow, no parts order, no second trip to the dealer.
