Got a call from a woman between shifts at an urgent care off the Victoria Avenue corridor in Ventura. Her 2016 Hyundai Accent flip key had cracked right at the hinge, and the blade was starting to separate from the shell. She could wiggle it and still start the car, but she knew one more bad day and the blade would snap off inside the ignition cylinder.
She couldn't leave patients to deal with a dealer appointment. And the dealer route would have meant scheduling out, arranging a ride or a tow, and burning half a workday on top of whatever they charge.
I drove to the lot during her break. Used my HY18 Lishi to decode the lock wafers directly off the driver door, verified the bitting, and cut a fresh HY18 blade on the van. The remote is the TQ8-RKE-4F14, four buttons, with the PCF7936 transponder inside. I connected through OBD, pulled the immobilizer PIN from the Smartra 2 module, and cloned the ID46 chip to a new key. Built the whole flip remote, tested lock, unlock, trunk, panic, and confirmed the engine started clean with no security light.
About 30 minutes, start to finish. She walked to her car after her shift with two working keys. Her car never left the parking spot and she lost zero time from work.
