2019 Hyundai Accent
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: How fast can you get to Ventura Harbor?

Ventura Harbor is a regular stop for me. Most of the time I can be there within 30 minutes of your call, traffic depending. When you reach out, I confirm the year, model, and key type so I'm loading the right blanks and equipment before I leave, not hunting for parts when I get there.

Q: Can I get a replacement key made today, or do I have to order something first?

Same day, yes. I carry the key blanks and programming tools for the 2019 Accent on every call. Nothing gets ordered, nothing ships, no appointment next Tuesday. You call, I come to you. Dealer backorders on Hyundai fobs are a real thing. Owners on forums have posted about waiting months for a replacement fob while their car sat. That's not a situation you want to find yourself in over a key.

Q: I bought a fob online to save money. Can you just program it to my 2019 Accent?

Sometimes, yes, but it depends on what you bought. The fob has to match the factory FCC ID on your car's original key. If the one you ordered carries the right ID for the 2019 Accent, I can pair it. If someone sold you a generic or mismatched unit, it won't register no matter what equipment is used.

Q: My 2019 Accent starts fine but the fob buttons stopped working. Do I need a whole new key?

Not necessarily. If the car still starts, the key is still communicating with the vehicle security system at close range. What you're describing, buttons dead but start working, usually points to the battery or the contact tabs rather than a failed key that needs replacement and reprogramming. Start with a fresh CR2032. Then open the fob and check that the battery tabs aren't bent flat against the housing. A tab that looks fine can still be making intermittent contact.

2019 Hyundai Accent Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I was already working near Ventura Harbor when a call came in from a woman parked close to the water. She had a 2019 Hyundai Accent and a fob that had stopped doing much of anything.

She'd already swapped the battery herself, twice, because a forum thread told her the CR2032 was probably the issue. The dash kept hitting her with a key-not-detected warning anyway. She figured she was looking at a dealer trip.

She wasn't wrong to be frustrated. The Accent's smart key system talks to the car through the OBD port for registration, and dealers treat that like it justifies a long appointment and a long wait. She'd already called one. They quoted her a price she didn't like and couldn't see her until later in the week.

I got there while she was sitting on a bench watching the boats. Pulled out my diagnostic equipment, confirmed the fob she had was no longer registered to the car, and ran the process to enroll a new one. The factory fob ID matched the dealer part number she'd looked up, so she'd bought the right hardware. It just needed to be paired.

The whole thing was done before the harbor crowd got thick. Lock, unlock, push to start, and every other button confirmed working. She didn't need an appointment. She didn't need a dealer bay. She paid a fraction of what the dealer wanted and got it handled same day, ten feet from the water.

How long does a 2019 Hyundai Accent smart key replacement take?▼

If you have one working key and just need a spare added, the programming side of the job typically runs under 15 minutes once I'm connected to the OBD port. The full visit, driving to you, confirming the hardware, running the pairing sequence, and testing every button, usually stays under an hour. All-keys-lost is a little longer. I have to pull the security PIN through the diagnostic interface before I can get into the immobilizer menu.
