2022 Hyundai Accent
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: How fast can you get to El Rio or anywhere in Oxnard?

Most of the time I'm there within 30 minutes of your call, depending on where in Oxnard you are and what traffic looks like. When you call, I confirm the year, make, model, and key type so I'm loading the right blank and tools before I leave, not figuring it out in your driveway. Dealer appointments for a 2022 Accent key are typically scheduled out days or more, and that assumes the correct blank and fob are in stock.

Q: Can I get a replacement key made today, without an appointment?

Yes. I carry the blanks and programming equipment for the 2022 Accent on every run. No ordering parts, no waiting on a shipment, no appointment next week. Call, describe the situation, and I head your way. Same-day is the standard, not the exception.

Q: I bought a replacement flip key fob online. Can you just program it, or is there a problem with that?

This comes up a lot. The short answer is: sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, and the risk is yours if it doesn't. Aftermarket fobs for the 2022 Accent vary in quality. The factory fob has the FCC ID printed on the back label. If the replacement you bought carries the same factory FCC ID and was made to OEM spec, there's a reasonable chance it programs cleanly.

Q: My Accent starts fine with the key, but the lock and unlock buttons stopped working. Is the fob dead?

Not necessarily. On a flip key, the ignition function and the remote entry buttons run on different systems. The blade and transponder can work perfectly while the remote side is dead, and that's actually a common failure pattern owners report on these. First check: CR2032 battery. A cell that reads 2.8 volts on a meter can still behave like it's gone flat under the actual load of transmitting. Swap it with a fresh one before assuming the fob is damaged.

2022 Hyundai Accent Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Out in El Rio, an older gentleman needed a spare key for his 2022 Accent. His daughter had been trying to get it done through the dealer for months. He stopped driving the freeway a while back, and the nearest Hyundai store was a highway trip he didn't want to make. She couldn't always get away to take him, so it just kept getting pushed.

I pulled into his driveway that morning. He was already outside waiting, which told me everything about how long this had been on his list.

The Accent takes a remote flip key. Four buttons, CR2032 battery, blade that folds in flush when not in use. I decoded the existing key, cut a matching blade on the replacement, and programmed it through the OBD port. The whole thing happened in his driveway while he stood there watching. He asked a few questions about the flip mechanism, how it worked, whether it would wear out. Good questions. I showed him how to check the battery before it gets bad enough to strand him, and walked him through what a weak-battery fob looks like before it fully quits.

He had two working keys in his hand before his daughter arrived. She pulled up, saw us standing there chatting, and looked a little surprised it was already done.

The dealer had quoted him a number that made the daughter hesitate in the first place. He paid a fraction of that, never left home, and the whole visit was under an hour.

How long does a 2022 Hyundai Accent key replacement take?▼

If you have a working key and just need a spare, programming typically runs 15 to 20 minutes once I'm connected to the OBD port. Add a few minutes for cutting and testing the blade, and the full visit is usually under an hour from the time I pull up. All-keys-lost takes a bit longer because I need to pull the vehicle PIN first and then work through the immobilizer menu before registering the new key.
