2012 Hyundai Accent
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2012 Hyundai Accent Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I was already in Ventura when the call came in. A woman over in the Poinsettia neighborhood said she had a 2012 Hyundai Accent and her only key had snapped at the base of the blade. Not lost, not stolen, just broken clean off in her hand when she pulled it from the ignition one morning.

She had already called the dealer. The appointment was four days out and they quoted her a number she wasn't happy about. A friend told her to try a locksmith first.

I pulled up while she was still on the porch. The broken blade piece was out of the ignition already, which made things easier. I cut her a new blade matched to the vehicle, enrolled the transponder chip through the OBD port, and then ran through the four-button remote functions on the factory fob housing she had kept. Lock, unlock, and the other two buttons all came back clean.

The whole job was done before she had finished her coffee, on her driveway, without towing the car anywhere. She paid a fraction of what the dealer wanted and kept her appointment slot open for something that actually needs a dealer bay.

She asked at the end if the car would "know" the key was made by someone other than Hyundai. I told her the immobilizer does not care about the logo on the key. It checks the enrolled code. That's it.
