1996 Hyundai Accent
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

1996 Hyundai Accent Metal Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a guy out near Rincon Point in Carpinteria. He'd been surfing, came back to the parking area, and his key was gone. Not lost in the car. Gone. He figured it went into the water somewhere between the board and the shore. His Accent was sitting there, doors locked, and he had no backup.

He'd already called a tow company. They quoted him a haul to a dealer, and the dealer's earliest opening was two days out.

I told him to cancel the tow.

I drove out, pulled my decode tools, and read the cut right from the door lock. Took a few minutes to get a clean read. Then I cut a new key blade on-site, tested it in the door, tested it in the ignition. Car started on the first try.

He'd been standing there for about two hours by the time I arrived, and the whole job from decode to working key was done in under twenty minutes after I got there. The dealer route would have cost him a tow fee, two days without his car, and whatever the dealer charged on top. He paid a fraction of that, and he drove home the same afternoon.

I also cut him a spare before I packed up. That part was his idea, which was the right call.
