I straightened the tab, seated a new CR2032, and tested all four buttons. Lock, unlock, trunk, panic. All responded clean.
Then I checked the transponder side. His mechanical key with the Philips 46 chip still started the car fine, which told me the immobilizer and the Hyundai Electrically Controlled Immobilizer system on the ECU side were healthy. The remote just needed the battery fix.
He drove home that evening. The whole visit took less than half an hour, and it cost him a fraction of what the dealer would have charged for the same diagnosis plus three days of waiting.
