2013 Hyundai Elantra Smart key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Do you need to tow your 2013 Hyundai Elantra to the dealer? For most Hyundai models from the mid-2000s through about 2022, no. I handle all-keys-lost right at the car.

A customer at his home in Thousand Oaks had his only fob stop working at 12:30am. His Elantra was in the driveway with push-to-start and no key the car would recognize. He assumed a tow was inevitable and started looking up flatbed prices for the morning. I told him to stay put and that I'd come to him.

I connected my Smart Pro to the OBD port and ran Hyundai's smart key AKL procedure, which reads the PIN and walks through key registration from scratch. His smart key, FCC ID SY5HMFNA04, was a 4-button smart key. I programmed it in his driveway at 1am. He seemed pretty surprised it could all happen right there.

His total was about 76. The dealer would have been 173 plus a tow and a wait until business hours. There are a small number of 2024 and newer Hyundai platforms with security gateways where AKL pushes into advanced territory. Those take longer and cost more, and I'll tell you that up front. But for the majority of Hyundais currently on the road, I do all-keys-lost on-site regularly. Midnight in a driveway is not a problem.
