2011 Hyundai Elantra Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out in the Westlake Village area of Thousand Oaks, a woman flagged me down to her apartment complex with the kind of story I hear weekly. Bought the 2011 Elantra used three years ago, got one smart key with it, always meant to get a spare.
The SY5HMFNA04 fob had finally cracked along the seam. She tried using the emergency blade for the door lock and snapped it off inside the cylinder. Fob shell in pieces in one hand. Blade stuck in the door. Zero working keys.
I pulled the blade fragment out, decoded the lock, and cracked open what was left of the housing. The PCF7952 chip and the small board inside were still intact, which was the good news. That meant I could skip a full immobilizer reset and the PIN retrieval wait. I transplanted the chip and board into a new shell, cut two fresh emergency blades off the decoded lock, and programmed the second fob through the OBD port with my VVDI2.
Whole thing took about 40 minutes. She watched me test both keys on the push-button start, the door handles, the trunk release. When both fobs worked, she just stood there holding them like she didn't trust it yet.
She went from zero keys to two, right there in her parking spot. The dealer had quoted her weeks out with a tow and a wait for parts. She didn't need any of that.
