Got called to Ventura near Omer Rains Bike Trail for a 2025 Elantra that wouldn't recognize its key. Owner tried everything: new battery, cleaning the contacts, even holding the fob against the start button like the manual says.

The LF antenna behind the rear bumper had a corroded connector, common on cars that see beach air. Cleaned the connection, sealed it properly, and the proximity system came right back.
She mentioned the dealer wanted to order a new fob and reprogram everything. Would have taken three days for the part alone. Instead, we fixed the actual problem in about 20 minutes right there in the parking area.
Total time from call to her pushing the start button again: under an hour. Way less than what the dealer quoted, and she kept both her original keys.
