Over in Olivas Adobe, near the community center, a guy flagged me down in the parking lot. He'd already paid another locksmith for a 2006 Hyundai Elantra key. Hyundai's immobilizer on the HD-generation Elantra uses an ID46 transponder with a timed registration cycle through the OBD port. If you rush it or skip the confirmation step, the key writes to temporary memory but never commits to permanent. The car sees the key once, maybe twice, then rejects it. The security light stays solid on the dash and the ECU locks the injectors.
I used my HY18 Lishi to verify the blade cut matched the original code. Connected my IM608 through OBD, cleared the failed key data from the previous attempt, then ran a clean learn with the full registration sequence. Waited for the timed countdown to finish, confirmed permanent storage on the screen, and showed him.
His OSLOKA-22201T flip key, three buttons, worked on every cycle after that. Remote lock, remote unlock, trunk release, and a clean start with no security light.
He'd already paid the first guy, and I couldn't help with that part. But I could make sure the job was actually done right this time, for a fraction of what the dealer wanted.
