2019 Jaguar F-Pace Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A veterinary dermatologist near River Ridge Golf Course in Oxnard called me about her 2019 F-Pace. Another locksmith had made her a smart key two days earlier, and it had already stopped working. The push-to-start would not detect the fob at all. She thought the car's computer had failed.
It had not.
I pulled up to the F-Pace and connected my VVDI2 to the OBD port. Read the KVM data and found the problem right away. The previous tech had written a chip that was close to ID49 spec but not matched correctly to her specific KVM generation. On a Jaguar, the immobilizer handshake through the KVM is strict. A chip that is almost right will sometimes start the car once, maybe twice, then get rejected after a drive cycle. No partial credit.
I programmed a correctly matched ID49 chip into a new KOBJXF18A shell, 5-button, same as her original. Registered it to the KVM, then ran the real test: three cold starts, passive entry on all four doors plus the tailgate, and every remote button. All clean.
She watched the whole thing from her driveway. When the third start fired without hesitation, she just nodded slowly, like she had been holding her breath the whole time.
The difference between a key that works and one that works for two days is chip accuracy. She paid a fraction of what the dealer wanted, and this one stayed working.
