Got a call from a guy near Arroyo Verde Park in Ventura. His 2013 R350 key blade snapped clean off inside the ignition slot. He was using the emergency blade to start it because his Keyless-Go had been acting up for weeks, and the chrome shell finally gave out right at the hinge.
When I got there, he had the broken plastic housing sitting on the passenger seat with the PCB still inside. The NEC processor chip on the board looked fine, no cracks, no corrosion. The blade was still jammed in the EZS module about a centimeter deep.
I pulled the broken piece with a Lishi extractor, checked the wafer springs inside the cylinder, and everything moved clean. No damage. Then I opened up the old fob housing, lifted the circuit board with the 5WK47283 module, and transplanted it into a fresh shell. Cut a new HU64 blade on the laser cutter right in the van, matched to the old key's cuts.
Tested all four buttons, tested Keyless-Go range at every door handle, trunk, and the start button. Everything paired back up without needing a reprogram because the original PCB and infrared module were intact the whole time.
He thought he needed a full replacement from the dealer. Weeks of waiting for parts and a shop appointment. Instead he drove home that afternoon.
