Got a call from a woman near the California Oil Museum in Santa Paula. She had a 2019 Atlas, one key her whole ownership, and it finally disappeared. Purse, jacket, couch cushions, nothing. No spare. Full all-keys-lost situation.

I drove out that afternoon. Pulled the dash cluster to access the EEPROM data. On these MQB clusters you read the 93C86 chip to extract the component security code and IMMO bytes. That part takes patience. You are not rushing bench work on somebody's instrument cluster.
Once I had the data, I cut the new HU162T blade on site, matched the MQB Megamos AES transponder, and ran the key adaptation through the OBD port. The whole process ran about two hours, which is honest time for an all-keys-lost MQB job done right.
She sat on the bench outside the museum and read a book while I worked. When I handed her the key and she flipped the blade out, hit unlock, and heard the horn chirp, she just closed the book and said, "That's it?"
That was it. One visit, one afternoon, a fraction of what the dealer wanted, and no flatbed ride across the county.
