2014 Volkswagen EOS Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I was coming out of Wildwood, wrapping up another call, when I got the message. A woman in Thousand Oaks said she'd already paid another locksmith to program a key to her 2014 Volkswagen EOS, it hadn't worked, and now the car wouldn't accept any key at all. The previous guy told her the dealer was her only option and left.
She was calm about it, but I could tell she was bracing to hear bad news again.
I pulled up to her place and plugged into the OBD port before I said much. The immobilizer was holding fault codes from the incomplete attempt. The other locksmith had run a procedure that didn't match what this system needed, and it left things in a half-registered state. The module wasn't locked out permanently, but it needed to be cleared properly before anything new could be added.
I walked her through what I was seeing on the screen. Faults logged, channel incomplete, no valid key registered. She asked if it was permanent damage. It wasn't.
I cleared the stored faults, confirmed the module was clean, and ran the correct key learning sequence for this vehicle from scratch. Her flip key came up registered on the first pass. I handed it back, she turned the key, and the EOS started without hesitation.
She mentioned what the dealer had quoted to sort it out. I'd done it for considerably less, and I didn't tack on an extra charge for the cleanup. Fixing someone else's incomplete work is just part of arriving at a job ready to actually finish it.
