Out in Saticoy, I got a call from a woman who had been driving her 2020 Volvo V90 on a single key since she bought it used. One of those things you keep meaning to handle. Then the fob casing cracked along the seam, probably from a drop, and when she tried the emergency insert blade on her door lock for the first time, the blade snapped. Tested every button, tested both fobs on the door handles and the start button, walked the whole car.
Forty-five minutes, start to finish. She went from zero working keys to two. When I mentioned the dealer had been her other option, she said she had already called and turned around when they told her what it would take just to get an appointment.
If you still have the broken fob, bring it to me or have it ready when I arrive. The internals on these Volvo smart keys are tougher than the plastic housing suggests.
