He called at 9:15pm from the 24-hour laundromat lot in Encinitas. His 1999 Dodge Viper wouldn't start after his overnight janitorial shift ended. Push-to-start did nothing. No dash response, no crank, no lights on key press. He was alone in a dark lot and had to be at his next building by midnight.

I charged the battery enough to stabilize the electrical system, then reprogrammed his fob through OBD using the restored module data. His MECHANICAL-KEY, FCC ID , was a 3-button smart key. The truck started immediately once the WIN module relearned the fob.
He made it to his next building on time. Total was $95. The dealer would have been $200 the next day plus a tow. The problem wasn't the fob at all. It was a dying battery that caused the WIN module to lose its key registration. That kind of diagnosis is exactly why I carry multiple tools. The first assumption isn't always the right one.
