2004 Dodge Viper Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A tattoo artist at his apartment breezeway near Scripps Ranch had a 2004 Dodge Viper with a cracked Fobik shell. The plastic around the buttons had split and the fob was barely holding together. He went to the dealer and they told him the only fix was a complete new key, cut and programmed, for about $238. What they didn't tell him is that the chip and circuit board inside were working fine. He just needed a new shell.
Your Viper uses a Remote. Physically, it has 4 buttons on the face, a CR2032 battery inside powering the remote functions, and either a blade that folds out or an emergency insert key tucked inside the housing. There's also a transponder chip embedded in the fob that communicates with the vehicle's immobilizer every time you try to start it.
I met him at his apartment with replacement shells and my Y159 Lishi. I decoded his lock for an exact blade match, then swapped the electronics from his cracked shell into a fresh housing. His Fobik's FCC ID was GQ43VT17T. I verified every button and the wireless range, and cut a new blade from the decode. The aftermarket Fobik shells I carry are the same material and button layout as factory. The board and chip are what matter, and those transferred right over.
He paid about $115 for the full job. The dealer was going to charge $238 to replace parts that still worked.
