2007 Dodge Viper
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2007 Dodge Viper Metal Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A guy near Santee Lakes called on a Saturday afternoon. He had driven his 2007 Viper to a car meet, set the key down somewhere, and by the time things wound down it was gone. No spare. He had driven maybe twelve miles from home and was not about to leave the car in a parking lot overnight.

He told me upfront he figured this was going to be a whole ordeal. He had already looked online and gotten confused by results that kept mentioning programming fees and chip enrollment for vehicles that, to him, just had a regular key. He was not wrong to be skeptical of what he was reading.

I told him the 2007 Viper takes a mechanical key. No chip to program, no module to talk to, no diagnostic equipment involved in the actual key cutting. What I needed from him was the VIN and proof of ownership, both of which he had on his phone. I was out to him in the Santee Lakes area, cut a replacement key from the code, and we confirmed it turned the ignition and operated the door lock.

He was back on the road the same afternoon. The dealer was his backup plan and he never had to use it.
