2001 Ford Focus Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

She was parked in the Cedros Design District, right in the middle of a Saturday errand run, when she snapped her only key in the lock. Not the ignition -- the door lock. The blade sheared off flush, the stub was inside the cylinder, and she had nothing left to start the car with.

She called a tow company first. They were going to drag it to a dealer on a Monday. It was Saturday afternoon.

She found me through a search and called to ask if I could actually handle it on site. I told her yes and was there in under 40 minutes with my extraction tools and the right key blank for a 2001 Focus.

I pulled the broken blade section out of the door lock, cut a new key to the vehicle, and then got into the programming side. The 2001 Focus passive anti-theft system has a timed relearn sequence that runs through the ignition. You need two working programmed keys to use the onboard method, and she had zero -- so I used my programming equipment through the OBD port to enroll the new key directly. Engine started, held, and idled clean.
