He needed his medication from the pharmacy and his car wouldn't start. His 2022 Honda HR-V key fob had stopped working in the pharmacy lot in San Ysidro. He pressed the button and nothing happened. I replaced the fob battery, reprogrammed the transponder through OBD, and tested every function. I also walked him through the backup start procedure on his HR-V in case a fob ever died on him again.
From his phone call to his engine running was 40 minutes, and it cost $185. The dealer wanted $395 and a next-day appointment. He made it to the pharmacy, got his prescription, and went home. Sometimes the difference between a locksmith and a dealer isn't convenience. It's getting the car running before it becomes a health problem.
