1995 Honda Prelude Metal Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A guy in the Border Area, right off the main stretch near San Ysidro, called me about his 1995 Prelude. Said he'd snapped his only key in the door lock. The blade broke off flush inside the cylinder. He'd already tried the "needle and tweezers" method from a YouTube video and pushed the fragment deeper.
I got there with my extraction kit and my code cutter in the van. Pulled the broken piece out of the door cylinder without pulling the lock. Once I had the fragment, I could read what was left of the cut, verify it against the door lock, and get a fresh blade cut on site.
The whole thing took about 40 minutes. He asked once if I needed to plug anything into the car. I told him no, this one is all mechanical. The key turns the tumblers and that is the whole job.
He'd already called the Honda dealer before reaching me. They told him to tow the car in, order a key blank, and come back in a few days. He saved the tow cost and skipped two trips across town.
