2008 Infiniti Ex35 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Near Moonlight Beach, an Airbnb host flagged me down in her own driveway. She was managing a beach house rental and the EX35 she used to shuttle guests and run errands had developed a cracked fob shell.
The seam along the edge had split, probably from being dropped on pavers one too many times, and the buttons were starting to skip. Lock worked. Unlock was 50/50. She wasn't sure if it was the shell, the battery, or something deeper.
She had already stopped by the Infiniti dealer. Their answer was a full fob replacement, cut and programmed, at a number that made her pause long enough to start googling other options. What nobody told her was that the circuit board and transponder chip inside were completely fine. The electronics had survived the drop. The housing hadn't.
I met her in the driveway with a replacement shell and my decoding tools. I popped the original fob open carefully, transferred the board and chip into the fresh housing, seated a new CR2032, and verified the fit before closing it up. Then I cut a replacement blade from the decoded key profile and tested every button, checked wireless range from across the car, and confirmed the push-to-start was reading the chip cleanly.
She watched the whole thing from about three feet away with her arms crossed like she was waiting for the catch. There wasn't one. The buttons were crisp, the range was back, and the blade fit the door lock exactly. The job took maybe 25 minutes in her driveway.
She saved a significant chunk compared to what the dealer quoted, and she didn't have to leave the car anywhere or wait for a part to be ordered.
