Sunday morning in Del Mar, out in the Carmel Valley area near a yoga studio tucked off one of those quiet side streets. The owner had just wrapped her first class of the day and walked out to her 2012 Infiniti EX35 to grab something from the trunk before the next group arrived. Nothing. No response from the fob. But after a fresh battery, the system still wasn't reading the key cleanly at the door antennas. The fob had been sitting in a bag next to her phone and a wireless charging pad -- that kind of low-level RF exposure over time can degrade how these keys communicate, even if it doesn't kill them outright. It wasn't recovering on its own.
I pulled up her vehicle through the OBD port, extracted the security PIN, and registered a new Intelligent Key to the car. Tested every function: door handle unlock on both sides, push-button start, trunk release, the lock button from across the lot. Everything came back clean.
She had just enough time to get a coffee before her next class started. She mentioned the dealer had quoted her a multi-day wait just for the part. Getting it handled on a Sunday morning, in a parking lot, in under an hour -- that part she didn't expect.
