Beyond that, the antenna that reads the fob inside the cabin can be a factor. That is a range or antenna issue, not a dead fob.

If none of that resolves it and the warning is consistent, the fob may need to be re-enrolled, or if the vehicle has gone through a battery disconnect or module update, the key registration can sometimes need to be refreshed through the diagnostic port.

I have a spare key for my QX80 that I never programmed. Can you add it without erasing the key I use every day?
