2009 Mitsubishi Outlander
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2009 Mitsubishi Outlander Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

He got off work and walked across the park and ride lot in Rancho Bernardo, the one near Seven Oaks, and nothing happened when he pointed the fob at his 2009 Outlander. No click, no lights, nothing. He tried standing closer. Still nothing. The doors were locked, the fold-out blade was his only option, and the spare fob was sitting on his kitchen counter at home.

He called the dealer. Thursday was the earliest they could see him. It was Monday evening.

He found EZ Car Keyz and I was at the lot inside 35 minutes.

I pulled the door with a slim jim and got him into the car. Then I popped the fob open on the hood. The CR2032 looked fine visually, but when I checked the voltage it was sitting too low to drive the signal properly. I swapped the cell, reseated it, and handed it back. He hit the lock button from ten feet away and the mirrors folded. He laughed a little at how simple it turned out to be.

But I didn't leave it there. I connected my programmer to the OBD port to confirm the fob was still registered to the vehicle and that the immobilizer wasn't flagging anything. Everything read clean. The fob just needed a fresh battery seated correctly.

He drove home that same night. The dealer appointment he'd been dreading never happened. What he saved, compared to the dealer route plus a tow he was already researching, was a good chunk of money and three days of riding the bus.
